Bhutan Tour Guidance

Embarking on a Bhutan tour brings peace, purity, and unmatched Himalayan charm. Moreover, every Indian traveler experiences serenity combined with culture and nature. Additionally, understanding travel routes, permits, and government fees ensures a smooth and enjoyable journey throughout Bhutan.

How to Reach Bhutan

Travelers can reach Bhutan easily by both air and road. Firstly, several flights operate from Delhi, Mumbai, or Kolkata to Paro Airport, Bhutan’s only international airport. Furthermore, those flying to Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal can conveniently continue their journey by road to Phuentsholing, the main entry point. Besides that, train travelers can reach New Jalpaiguri (NJP) or Hasimara Railway Station, both well-connected to Phuentsholing through comfortable road transport. Consequently, reaching Bhutan from any part of India remains effortless and quick.

Permit Formalities for Indian Travelers

Indian citizens do not require a visa; however, a permit is compulsory for entry into Bhutan. Therefore, travelers must obtain permits at Phuentsholing or Paro Airport by presenting a Voter ID card or Passport. Moreover, the entry permit allows travel to Thimphu and Paro, while visiting Punakha, Bumthang, or Trongsa requires a special route permit. In addition, travelers should carry passport-size photographs and confirmed hotel bookings to complete the process efficiently. Altogether, following these simple steps guarantees a hassle-free entry into the kingdom.

Government Fees and Other Charges

The Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) applies to all Indian visitors. Currently, travelers need to pay INR 1,200 per person per night. Importantly, this fee supports Bhutan’s environmental protection and cultural preservation. Besides that, minimal entry fees may apply at certain heritage sites or monasteries. Thus, all charges contribute to Bhutan’s goal of maintaining high-value and low-impact tourism.
